After 23 years of serving our community through walk-in tattoo services, Montana Tattoo Company is evolving to meet the changing needs of both our artists and clients. This transition marks an important shift in how we operate, focusing on providing a more personalized and efficient experience for everyone involved.
Why We're Making This Change
The tattoo industry has transformed significantly since we first opened our doors. Today's artists prefer to work through digital channels, allowing them to better prepare for each client and focus entirely on their art. Our current setup, with our tattoo area upstairs and no staff waiting for walk-ins, I feel that leaving the door open no longer serves our artists or clients optimally. The fact that they are all independent contractors means we have little control of when they are here.
What This Means for You
Moving forward, Montana Tattoo Company is operating as a rental and marketing company, with each artist functioning as an independent business owner. This structure offers several benefits:

Personalized consultation processes
Focused, uninterrupted tattoo sessions
Clear, transparent business practices
We still have the walk-in phone/text system allowing you to check for immediate artist availability each day from anywhere where we notify you within 24 hours if no artist is available in the next couple of days. If not, you will be recommended to pick an artist or to come in to our next weekly walk-in day
Working with Our Artists
Each artist has their preferred way of connecting with clients:
Some prefer to schedule callback consultations within a few days of making contact and only work in select styles.
Some prefer to allow clients to book video conversations at their schedule where they can share reference materials and designs in real-time while simultaneously having notes taken.
Many of the guests generally work through DMs.
This flexibility allows each artist to work in their most effective way while ensuring you get the best possible experience and results.
Our New Business Structure
Montana Tattoo Company will essentially serve as:
A rental space for professional tattoo artists by the day, week, or month.
A marketing platform connecting clients with represented artist, whether they are in the Missoula studio or not.
Each artist operates as an independent business with their own:
Communication systems
Payment processing
Scheduling systems
Client reminders
Print Materials
Products
Marketing and Sales Campaigns.
